Zachariah's first family field trip!
To the Dallas World Aquarium, of course! We had lunch at Cafe Maya, which was also our first restaurant experience with Zachariah. I must say, it went quite well. Zachariah slept, and I ate sideways. lol
I woke up on Thanksgiving to my incision no longer being sore, so decided to celebrate by taking my ERGO to the aquarium with us. The ring sling is definitely quicker to get on for things like a trip to the grocery store, or Friday School, but for an all day outing, the weight distribution of the ERGO can't be beat! :)
Don't worry, Jonathan carried Zachariah some, too!
I would love to say that Zachariah was enthralled by all the animals we saw...
but about the only interest he showed was in the shark tunnel!
We had a great day, and got Zachariah his very first souvenir!

Homeschooling with baby
Probably one of the most common questions I was asked during my pregnancy other than the obvious was "Are you still going to homeschool the girls?" To which my answer was always "Of course, why wouldn't we?" Or the more forward version of what everyone was thinking "How on earth are you going to homeschool with a baby?" Since I had never taken on this challenge before, I honestly didn't know the answer to that question. Depending on my mood, I answered either flippantly - "Very carefully", or honestly - "We'll figure it out. I'm sure it will take a while to settle into a schedule with a baby, but that's the beauty of homeschool. You have much more flexibility." Now that Zachariah is here, we have settled into a semblance of a routine. I try to get the schedule for the week printed off on Monday morning so that even when I'm otherwise occupied with Zachariah the girls know what they're supposed to do. Zachariah eats, sleeps and is held by all. Yesterday, I had a doctor appointment so Celestia took a turn holding her brother for me to get ready. She must have been really close to finishing her work, because she decided to work and babysit at the same time.
By the time I had taken a shower and gotten dressed, the girls were both finished with their schoolwork for the day, and peacefully snuggling with their brother on the sofa. I love homeschooling! :)

Snuggly baby!
What to do when the baby is fussy, the girls are busy and there's still work to be done? Wear the baby, of course!
This is one of two baby carriers that I have, and Zachariah LOVES to be worn! He's such a snuggler! I've actually had him in his sling so much that a friend came over to the house a few nights ago when I was holding him and she said "Oh, he DOES have legs!" hehe! I'm really looking forward to being able to use this particular carrier more because it distributes the weight so nice and evenly. When Zachariah is bigger, and can hold his head up better, I'll be able to wear it on my back or hip, too for more versatility. Today was the first time I've actually had him in it because it sits down around my hips and I couldn't even get into it without causing a lot of pain in my incision. I would actually like to have it even lower, but I'm not quite healed enough for that yet. In any event, this carrier is rated to hold little ones until 40 pounds, so we'll be using it a whole lot! Thanks, Grandma and Grandpa Martin for our ERGO to snuggle Zachariah in! :)

Not the milkman's baby!
I have fallen down on the job when it comes to blogging lately. Can I blame it on having a new baby? I sure hope so! I meant to post commemorating his one month birthday and he cried all. day. long. I didn't get a single picture of him. :( I then took some pictures the day after with the intention of posting them that day, but never managed to get them off the camera and on to the computer. Expect a photobomb post very soon. Before that though...
Jonathan was in Washington DC for his last show, which meant that he got to take an extra day and visit his family on the company's dime. While there, he sifted through old pictures and brought a few home for me. In case you were wondering if Zachariah looks more like me...
or Jonathan...
You have your answer!
As I was creating this post, Tatiana saw one of the pictures of Jonathan and said "Is that Zachariah?" HEHE!
