Curly Sue
Try as I might, I have never gotten the hang of pin curls. My mother, however, is a champ at it, and she curled Tatiana's hair before bed Monday night. Isn't she a cutie?!

*sigh*
I turned 30 last Thursday. Yep, that's right, t-h-i-r-t-y. Not happy about that. I have no pictures to post of this occasion. Nothing exciting really happened, except that Jonathan flew home from New York that day shortly before the plane that crashed into the Hudson. (I thank God every time I see him standing by the baggage carousel, with another trip behind us.) I have a confession to make... I've been dreading this day for an entire year. I really never thought that a certain age would bother me, but for some reason, this one does. I don't look around at other thirty-somethings and think "Wow! They're old!", but for some reason, I feel like I am. Does anyone want to try and explain this nonsensical reasoning?

Finishing touches
I knew with our newly painted furniture that I wanted some pretty boxes of some sort to contain the mess. I had looked several places to no avail, finding either nothing at all, or horribly flowered concoctions that had no place in any adult's room, much less one that is shared with a man. I finally stumbled across these book boxes on clearance at Earthbound Trading Company, and brought home three of them, which I promptly realised was about three too few, so I had to go back for more! ;) I also searched for quite some time for a lining to go in the shelf before finding this beautiful striped pillow cover at Pottery Barn. That was especially exciting, because I knew I would never be able to match the green paint, but since the colours are all muted, it doesn't need to!
OK, I'll stop now. I'm WAY excited to have some organisation in our bathroom, can you tell?

Decorating project numero uno!
Our big three goals for the house this year are to get more organised inside, more organised outside, and to actually decorate! Our first project actually helped in ALL THREE areas! WOOHOO!
Our master bathroom has no counter space. I'm not kidding, this is one tiny space for two people to primp in. So, because it's just not easy being this beautiful (hehe!) my potions and lotions were taking over... And don't even get me started on jewelry! We also happen to have a garage packed full of stuff - from band posters, old toys and clothes, to furniture we're no longer using, and even a telephone booth sized network rack (don't ask).
We've talked about buying a piece of furniture for the master bath since we moved in just to help organise, and personalise the space some. Then one day it hit me... We have this tower out in the garage that hasn't been used since we moved into the house. Don't ask me why we have LESS furniture in our house than we did in the apartment. I have no answer for that. Anyhoo, it wasn't really our style as it was a hand-me-down piece, so we decided to paint it! We already had some gold paint for the room, and a picture hanging on the wall that had lots of jewel tones in it, so the not-so-appealing tower is now a pretty shade of green, with brand new handles, and we've recalimed what little counter space there was around the sink.
Now, if I can only remember where my face wash is at 6:00 AM I'll be doing good! :)

Happy New Year!
I think 2009 is going to be a great year! Don't ask me why. I don't really have a concrete answer for you.
Maybe it's because our girls actually managed to stay up with us until midnight for the first time ever this year. It made me deliriously happy to have them awake, and happy. We watched the hockey game, and the Stars actually won! :) After that, the girls proceeded to watch both of the new Barbie movies that they got for Christmas, and were so sweet singing the songs along with them.
Maybe it's because I've got some fun ideas for decorating our house, and I plan on actually doing so. After all, it's only been four years and I still have builder white walls! HAHA!
Maybe it's just because I'm an optimist.
Whatever the reason, I'm looking forward to what the new year will bring, and wish all of you a HAPPY 2009!
